About North Yorkshire Medicals

North Yorkshire Medicals Limited was established in 2020 by Dr Graeme Little, a GP from Newcastle who has settled in North Yorkshire.

Dr Little qualified in 2005 from the University of Dundee and has been a GP since 2011. Initially a Medical Officer in the Royal Air Force, he performed various specialist military medicals. Since leaving the military he has expanded his experience and undertakes a range of medicals mainly for offshore, renewable energy and seafaring industries.

Our services

North Yorkshire Medicals offer a variety of occupational medicals to ensure that workers are medically fit for their job on a day-to-day basis and during emergencies.

We also offer bespoke medicals and medicals for the insurance industry. Please contact us if you wish to have a medical examination which is not one of our standard medicals listed.

Medicals we offer

ENG 1

You need an ENG 1 certificate if you are a seafarer.

ML5

Assessment of medical fitness to hold a BML, RYA commercial endorsement or to work on vessels listed by the MCA on the ML5 form.

OGUK/OEUK

All persons working in the UK offshore industry must be examined and classified as medically fit to work in an offshore environment.

Fit to train EBS

In-water training with compressed-air emergency breathing apparatus (EBS) for survival courses requires medical assessment and certification.

ERT

Oil and Gas UK recommend that members of Emergency Response Teams (ERT) working offshore undergo specific medical examination.

RUK/ GWO

Assessment of medical fitness to work on offshore and land based projects for the renewable energy sector.

Chester step test

Often a pre-requisite for working in roles requiring a basic level of physical fitness, the Chester step test is a way of gauging fitness by measuring the heart’s ability to recover from exertion.
